Capita boss quits over Blair loan (BBC News)
Odd that he’s quit now, with surprisingly little media coverage about his indiscretion (of loaning £1m to the Labour Party ‘under cover’, quite possibly to be written off later.)
Especially when there’s so many things he should have quit for –
- screwing up the Criminal Records Bureau, causing huge delays in teacher appointments
- screwing up housing benefit in Lambeth, causing it to actually be de-outsourced
- screwing up Individual Learning Accounts, to the point where the entire scheme collapsed
- screwing up school records, by not actually doing any testing
- continually failing to meet Congestion Charge targets, causing Capita to be levied with £4.5m of fines and counting
- their investment firm allowing rife identity theft
And that’s just what I can find on a Google search for “capita +failure”. I’m sure Private Eye (which refers to them continually as ‘Crapita’ for this and other failures) has more. They’ve just kept on getting contracts, and no-one knows why… until now, that is.
