When they had Fincher attatched to Watchmen, I danced a dance of unparalleled glee, but Brett Ratner did say no. And now I can handle Zack Snyder…Dawn of the Dead was actually pretty good…
Yeah, Zack Snyder doesn’t seem to be as awful as Ratner (although I haven’t seen Dawn remake so I don’t have an opinion on him, he seems a bit too “visual style”). Of course, some of these people do have sense: Justin Timberlake apparently turned down Superman twice (memorably quoted as saying “Whatever you’re smoking, I want none of it”) during the Jon Peters/McG/JJ Abrams-and-a-whole-lotta-other-screenwriters-and-directors era.
But “The Boys From Brazil”? Does it even need a remake? Hollywood is remake crazy right now and it’s somewhat saddening, especially when it’s stuff that really shouldn’t be touched by people like Brett Ratner (who has already remade one movie that shouldn’t have been, “Manhunter”/”Red Dragon”).
